Right so ive been feverishly working on the animation
The books apear in pairs, one blue one red, each a volume or chromosome from the mother and father
the bookcase fills up gradually. Here i was focusing on getting the shader right and decided to use subsurface shader as it is coincidently what would look best to get an embryonic feel.
I wanted the white surrounding circle to fade out and become less cell like and allowing the bookcase to stand out
Below are iterations of the shader, truing to get the above images feel
It was about this render that i became happier with how it was looking and the general feel, it was still a bookcase but its colour attributes and more organic shape still denoted something cellar about it. I wanted the bookcase to look similar to when you shine a torch though your finger.
taking off the shiny highlights improved on this, as when submerged it would not have highlights.
This is a shot of the cell changing to the bookcase. see the links below for the animations.
I used blender to squash the bookcase into an embryo shape and then exported them both into maya and used a blend shape to animate the transition between them both, it was an extension of the blend shaping i did at the start of the yeah but i think this perfectly shows the reansition between embyro to embryo bookcase, giving a clear visual que as to what is hapening
Blend shaping of the bookcase success
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i1XWeUAJ0KIIm happy with the transition, maybe a bit slow and the end needs worked on but im going to have a play and see if i can get it sorted ready for submission. cutting it fine though and the other project is also being worked
Bookcase animation
Within the above link is actually 4 different animations the first two are blocking out the bookcase and additions of books then the second two have the first few book animations getting the timing blocked out and some cameras set up.
All still needs more work, timing needs sorted. I am considering just having images of the stages of the whole animations and putting them together as a animatic. I will see how tomorrow goes.
